Often, there are high-potential candidates -- up to and including selected successors -- who nonetheless have one or more characteristics that require fine tuning before promotion/ They may also lack experience in one or more roles that the new position will require. As well as an in-house mentor, it is often helpful to have an external consultant who can act as a supporter and neutral agent for such growth.

Dr. Chester provides group presentations, workshops and targeted activities designed to increase group functioning and/or improve organizational performance for selected employee groups. Such programs are customized from a wide array of available materials, and tightly integrated to the organization's goals for that group.
Team building workshops improve trust and communication amony team members, lessen inappropriate in-group conflict, increase group effectiveness and allow for increased cross-training, among other measurable improvements to the organization. Dr. Chester has completed team building projects for several firms, including KPMG and PwC, some as far away as Milan, Italy. In 2007, she was part of a select group of senior coaches who over a 6 month period assisted a public accounting firm in integrating teaming nationally into their organization.
Unintentional barriers to female advancement may include unspoken assumptions, reluctance to communicate issues across gender or cultural barriers, lack of available mentorship, and a host of other issues. Providing a lightning rod to defuse these issues and nurture talent that otherwise might be misdirected can result in measurable gains to the proactive organization. While these issues are often addressed in a gender-specific way, they may also be addressed in a genderless or gender-sensitive workshop where appropriate.
Specific projects may be developed to increase retention among star performers and high potential employees, or they may be targeted toward particular departments or demographic groups that typically experience high attrition. Such projects are always custom-developed from the facts on the ground, since organizational goals, cost-benefit structures and demographic situations vary widely.

Organizational Trauma may be defined as anything external or internal which causes stress or dysfunction in an organization, or which depresses its ability to respond effectively to its challenges.
Dr. Chester provides custom workshops for stress reduction, resilience building, and employee retention, wrapped around an organization's particular needs and goals. Customization may include sensitivity to the demographics of the selected employee group, as well as the organizational culture and mission.
Workplace violence includes such topics as sexual harassment/assault, robbery, bullying, and spillover from domestic violence. How safe do employees feel within the organization? Dr. Chester develops interventions which increase the organization's ability to prevent workplace violence incidents, and to limit the impact of any that do occur.
Just like a person, an organization can suffer from trauma. Violence, embezzlement, layoffs, diversity incidents or certain kinds of interpersonal aggression -- including the nastier forms of corporate politics -- may leave an organization functioning in a state of shock. Dr. Chester prefers to train and inoculate an organization in advance of these kinds of incidents, but is also available to help speed recovery after such incidents.
Dr. Chester is available for forensic investigations into diversity incidents, either alone or (more often) as an adjunct member of a team of trained investigators. Depending upon what is discovered, Dr. Chester will help to tailor the remedies with insight for the organization and individuals involved.
